Frequently Asked Questions.

  • No experience is needed for any beginner or all levels class! Our studio is a safe space for students who are new to movement, all instructors are trained to meet you where you are.

  • Pole classes require skin contact. Shorts, sports bras or bikini sets are best. Heels are welcomed at all classes and will be required for specific classes. Athleisure is recommended for Yoga and other dance classes. Check the notes at class sign up for any specific attire needed.

  • The black gated door behind the bus stop on S Lawndale. Doors are unlocked by each instructor 10-15 mins prior to class. Street parking is free and typically available but early arrival is recommended on weekends/holidays to ensure you have time to settle in before class. 

  • After signing up you can cancel or reschedule any appointment via Acuity unless it’s 24 hours before class time. Feel free to send an email or text if you need to reschedule or cancel after this window. No refunds will be given after the start of class time, you may receive a credit to reschedule at the instructor's discretion. 

  • Most weekly classes are capped at 1 student per pole. Weekend workshops will be doubled due to limited time with guest instructors. In the event of sharing a pole, instructors will ensure students have adequate time to practice. Our students are generally women ages 23-40+ of all backgrounds, sizes and abilities. We welcome all respectful and aligned students. This is a queer sex worker owned & operated space. Be mindful of this when booking. NO disrespect will be tolerated. 

  • Our studio poles are standard X Poles 11ft high that can accommodate students up to 300lbs comfortably. 

  • Yes, of course! Please notify your instructor of any issues you may have with class material. Pynk Portal’s knowledgeable staff will be sure to meet you where you are and provide modifications or conditioning exercises you can utilize.

  • Pynk Portal was created due to a need for a safe, affirming pole and dance space for sex workers and other pole dancers on the south side of Chicago. We pride ourselves on maintaining the “sanctuary” part of our name by being a space you can let loose and tap into your mind and body connection with other like-minded dancers.
